We had Mike and Jay replace our entire roof. They were timely and punctual-the estimated project start and completion was accurate. They worked six days a week to get the job done. They treated our home like it was their own. They were incredibly tidy. They are both knowledgeable and passionate about roofing and it actually became contagious throughout the project. We wouldn’t trust anyone else with our home!

I would like to give a 5 stars for this company who did a very good job for my roof replacement. my roof needs to be replaced entirely with the drainage system. the guys are very pro-active and they do know what should be done in a corret way. they notice what should be planned with the weather conditon during the work. they are pretty proffession and placed with better shingles without extra charging even. they are very care about the project than the ower, becasue they want to have a good performance of work. basically, you just need to out line the scope of works from the insurance compnay and leave all the rest to them. they will provide you a very delligent work. eventially, you dont need to worried about anything from the contruction side, they care more than the owner about the products. I am very happy to find those guys to do my roof works and hope they keep going on the great jobs !!

Cannot speak highly enough of Henk from H&J!! We reached out with an urgent inquiry as we are looking at buying a home we just found out needs a new roof asap. I received a call back quickly (had not left a vm, he just called based on my missed call) and took the time to walk me through what would be required, materials, time and a ballpark cost. (He offered to come out right away but we haven't yet bought home and I just asked for ballpark) I had various questions and he took the time to answer everything patiently & in depth, very genuine and personable. The ballpark quote I received from H&J was significantly less than the other ballpark quotes we were given by others looking at the exact same thing. If proceeding with this purchase, we will 100% be going with H&J for our roof and other exterior changes we may choose to make. You simply cannot beat genuine honest and straightforward business owners who are in it because they love and care about what they do!! Thank you H&J for the peace of mind!

I hired this company to strip the old siding from my four level split home and detached double garage, and replace it with Hardie board and appropriate trim. They did an absolutely outstanding job. The initial quote was detailed and accurate. They provided a lot of consulting to determine the best color and style for our home. Once the project started, they maintained an extremely clean site and and completed the job on time and on budget. There were a number of finicky challenges for them to work through on my older home to complete the job, which they managed very successfully. I highly recommend H&J.

Upgrade Your Home’s Exterior With Eavestroughs, Soffit & Fascia

Eavestroughs play an important role in preventing leaks that would require potential roofing repair and issues to your foundation, windows, and exterior walls. More often than not, these problems arise when your eavestrough’s water is not properly draining away from their house. Eavestrough repair can help rectify it if it’s performing poorly. However, an old one can only go through so many repairs until it’s necessary to get eavestrough installation.

When it comes to soffit & fascia, our roofing contractors can tell you that their upkeep and performance are just as important. Soffits maintain proper ventilation, preventing moisture build-up that creates mould, mildew, and rot. Since Calgary temperatures fluctuate, it can leave you more susceptible to moisture without proper ventilation.

Meanwhile, fascia is considered the last line of defence for your roofline and rafters against the elements. It’s what your gutters attach to, and it helps block out some of the rain, snow, and wind from getting underneath your roofline. By considering all these roofing components, we at H&J Roofing can ensure we protect your home’s roofing from all fronts.

Soffit, Fascia & Eavestroughs

About Your Home’s Exterior

Soffits, fascia, and eavestroughs in Calgary all play an important part in protecting your home’s structural integrity. Many eavestrough companies can attest that many confuse the three roofing features. Whether you need to know the difference between eavestroughs and gutters to soffit & fascia, learn everything you need to know to ensure you get the right roofing work done.

Eavestroughs

Not to be mistaken for gutters, eavestroughs are the metal attachments on your roof’s sides. It acts as a channel that collects water around the perimeter of your roof, discharging it to downspouts or downpipes.

Soffit

The soffit is the material beneath the eave that connects the far edge of your roof to the exterior wall of your house. It provides proper ventilation that ensures further protection from water build-up.

Fascia

Fascia is usually identified as the attractive board along the side of the overhang and the roof that helps your roof appear finished. Beyond aesthetics, it helps support shingles and keeps moisture out.

When to Replace Your Soffit,
Fascia & Eavestroughs

Homeowners can find it tricky to know when to replace any soffit, fascia, or eavestrough. Many assume repairs are sufficient enough to maintain performance. However, like anything, residential roofing repairs can only take you so far. Eventually, you will need a replacement. Perhaps all of them, if necessary. Knowing what issues require replacement means you won’t worry about wasting too much on costly repairs.

Damage

Not all damages are fixed easily with repairs. Some damages are irreversible. In such cases, it creates long-lasting recurring issues like pests & even leads to bigger problems like asbestos. If repairs don’t cut it, your best bet is a replacement.

Age

Old soffits, fascia, & eavestrough don’t perform like they used to upon initial installation. Years of wear and tear from outside elements eventually catch up to them. Best to get a replacement after they’ve been around for 10 years.

New Roof

Are you constructing a new roof for your home? If so, you might as well do so for your soffit, fascia, & eavestrough. As important roofing components, you want to ensure all aspects of your roof are in working order.

Questions For Our
Roofing Contractors?

It can help prevent water damage to the roof and walls of a building, as well as protect against mold and other moisture-related problems. In addition, these components can improve a home’s overall appearance and value.

It is recommended to have soffits, fascia, and eavestroughs inspected and cleaned at least twice a year, typically in the spring and fall. However, depending on the location and surrounding environment, more frequent inspections and cleanings may be necessary.

Signs that soffits, fascia, or eavestroughs may need repair or replacement include rust, holes, cracks, sagging, or separation from the roofline. Additionally, if water is not draining properly from the eavestroughs or water damage to the walls or roof, it may indicate that these components need attention.
